Sunday 14th Totally a day at home with the family....out to the studio around 7 PM and to hear another mix; this song had the working title "Arctic Murphys" – played with a restless energy like the Arctic Monkeys and Dropkick Murphys respectively - that energy was essential if it were to stand a chance between all the "big" tracks on the album- it's a a little powerful pearl, now with the title "If You Had A Head" – and Joshua had a nice grasp of it, Cobber came and wanted louder drums(!!) – even though we've reached an age where politeness is gone and it is mostly "more of me!!" – he was right. Joshua and I again discussed the importance of having our new live favorite (Money Always Takes The Place Of Life) on the album or not – as a producer he gets an itch all over the body when he hears that the only argument for a song is that it's a live-favorite .. we have to work harder to make the one-dimensionality (as he hears it) disappear in that song....I said that when he begins mixing and hears the new vocal, hopefully he’ll be convinced....went home and bought David Gray on iTunes because I had a feeling that I've borrowed a melody line from one of his numbers, went through his ”white ladder”, and acquitted myself....phew…
